The Painting Behind the As A Mother Collection
With the release of my first collection fast approaching (March 26), I thought it would be fun to share with you the painting behind the paintings, so to say. The painting that really kick-started and inspired the idea to make a body of work that revolved around motherhood.
“Fertility” was painted the summer I was pregnant with my second son. Even though I was in my 3rd trimester, battling hot temperatures and chasing around a 1.5 year old, I felt the overwhelming urge to create. An urge that I had not felt for a long time, I could hardly let it go to waste! So I listened to the voice and I created. “Fertility” as it turns out, is what poured from my soul. The light-filled yellow and the abstracted pregnant form exude a sense of joy, love, and anticipation.
The little nugget growing within me really brought the light. He brought the light to my painting and he brought unimaginable light to our lives. With that light came the understanding and the desire to really explore my own dreams of becoming an artist!
I am extremely glad I had a heart-to-heart conversation with myself because I deserve to share my voice and my art. The world deserves to see my bright and beautiful paintings! I can’t keep them to myself anymore, I am ready to share. I hope you find a painting that speaks to you, I cannot wait for it to bring you as much joy to your home as it brought me to create! As A Mother Collection available for early access March 26, 2020 for my Lovers of Color.
(“Fertility” not for sale, sorry it’s one I just have to keep!)
