The Birth of the Mini Collection

A few months back I was debating on what my next steps should be. I was high off of my first collection release, As A Mother, and trying to determine where to go from there. Bam! In strolls COVID-19 to terrorize and flip everyone’s world upside down. Like many, I was spiraling and doubly unsure of what to do for my art business. Thankfully, my husband was there to save the day and drop some wonderful ideas into my head.

As a mother of two small boys, my time is very limited. Currently, everything revolving around my art business is accomplished during nap time and the stray hour I might be able to distract them with snacks and a show. Because of this it takes me an extremely long time to put together a large collection of paintings on canvas. When I say a long time, I mean my first collection took me over a year to create. Obviously, now I have more diligence, more knowledge, and no maternity leave, so the time between large collections should lessen. I had planned on releasing a large collection of paintings on paper but realized that that too would take me a few months to accomplish. In swoops my husband with the idea of ‘mini collections’! A mini collection would comprise of only a handful of small paintings on paper and would be offered every few months.

It honestly is brilliant and solves all my most pressing problems and concerns. It will take way less time and energy to put together 3 to 5 small paintings, creating more time to work on a larger collection on the side. It will enable me to have new work available more frequently, keeping my Lovers of Color (what I call my collectors) excited and interested in between the potentially long stretches of creating a canvas collection. Being created on paper allows for these pieces to be a lower price, I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to purchase beautiful original art that speaks to their soul.

Thus, the birth of the mini collection! The plan is to release a new ‘mini collection’ every few months until I feel I am getting close to having a larger collection on canvas ready. Yeah, for fun new ideas!

Mine To Cherish is a reminder to take a moment to cherish the little things about your children. The first time your baby says ‘I love you’. Those late night snuggles. Staring into your child’s eyes while nursing. The sweet giggle from a tickled belly. The smell of their hair. Your first meet. This mini collection will include three acrylic paintings on paper ranging in size from 4” x 6” to 12” x 9”. Oh! And my boys helped create each one!
